" Melissa's Faith "
On March 17, 2006 my sister, Melissa Clary, gave birth to Quintuplets, two boys and three girls. The boys are named after their Father's family, Francisco and Tereso Jr. The girls were named Faith, Hope, and Charity. All of the babies were born twelve weeks prematurely. On Saturday March 18, Faith died, due to heart complications. The call was placed to the Mother's room at around 11:00 a.m. As she entered the ICU to view the child's lifeless body, she was informed that the doctors had been trying unsuccessfully to revive her for the past twenty minutes. The hospital staff told her that, she had been summoned to the room, simply to say goodbye. After the visit was over, they told her, they would clean up Faith's body and prepare her for burial. They were sorry, they said, but there was nothing more they could do. Faith was gone.
My sister left the room in tears, and met with the Chaplain across the hall. They began to pray,
" Lord, Jesus please help us in this time of need" She was headed back to her room to mourn the loss of her infant daughter when an amazing thing happened. The chaplain called down the hallway "Come quick!"
Miraculously, her heart had begun beating again! Faith was alive!
After hearing this news, Melissa went to her daily devotional and read the message for that day, March 18. This message contained some words she will never forget. It quoted the words contained in Matthew 9:18 "My daughter has just died, but if you will come and put your hand on her, she will live." Melissa realized that this message was intended especially for her, since she had lost her way a little, just as we all sometimes do. She felt like, maybe God had given up on her. This message served to prove to her, and to all of us, that Jesus is alive and well, and continuing to perform miracles, even today.
May this story serve as a reminder that God does have the power to raise the dead, whether that is a lifeless child, his own son, or our lagging faith. I believe that, if it were not for her belief in Jesus Christ as her savior, and the power of prayer, this miracle would not have taken place. Now Melissa has a powerful testimony to share with everyone regarding the power of resurrection.
